How to differentiate "知道", "认识" and "明白"？



知道VS认识
①　About“people”：
“知道”强调单方面的；“认识”强调双方的。
“知道”Emphasis unilateral;“认识”Emphasis bilateral.
例子：我知道奥巴马，但是不认识他。
I heard about Obama, but I don’t know him.
我认识我的朋友快十年了。
I know my friend nearly ten years.

②　“知道”It always be used about knowledge or information.
我已经知道这个消息了。
知道VS 明白
“知道”means to know; “明白”means to understand.
我知道中国人喜欢红色，但是不明白为什么？
老师解释了这个问题以后，我明白了。
The teacher explained the problem, and I can understand.
