The AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam(Commonly known as AP Chinese) assesses interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication skills in Mandarin Chinese, as well as the knowledge of Chinese culture. The AP Chinese Exam is approximately lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, which consists of 4 sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

Section I: Multiple-choice questions

Part 1: Listening

The Listening section is worth 25% of the total score for AP Chinese exam. To do well on this section, you should practice listening in many methods and listen to many Chinese resources. Part 2: Reading

The Reading part is also worth 25% of the total score. There are 35 or 40 questions in a multiple-choice in this section. If you want to get a high score in this part, you should build a good reading habit and improve your reading speed. Also during the test you'd better find out the main ideas of the passage. Not only to understand mostly the meaning, you should also know the literal idea and the key point of the passage.

Section II: Free-response section

Part 1: Writing

To write an essay is a highly subjective task. You should write in complete sentences. You should read the requests of the test carefully, set up a theme, and stay on topic then continue work on the topic. Remember that this section also has time limited so changing the topic in the middle is not a good idea.

Part 2: Speaking

In order to speak Chinese fluently, you need to practice speaking as much as possible. Taking with native speakers is always a good way to improve your speaking skill. If you visit China, that would help you a lot. You will meet lots of nice friends and practice your Chinese anytime you want.
